Innovative Financing for Impact at Scale in Education

In a conversation workshop introduced by the Education Finance Network, the Education Outcomes Fund and the Impact-Linked Fund for Education will bring two case studies of innovative financing instruments used to finance education projects. The aim of the workshop is to facilitate peer-to-peer learning between organizations and individuals with experience designing and implementing innovative financing tools in education.

Charlie Habershon

Associate Partner - Dalberg

Charlie Habershon is an Associate Partner based in Nairobi where his experience spans a wide range of areas including digital agriculture, education, youth employment, and gender. He supports institutions and businesses to solve complex problems, identify opportunities and implement new initiatives. Prior to Dalberg, Mr. Habershon worked in the education practice at PA Consulting, set-up and ran a social enterprise in Sierra Leone, and taught History and Economics in a London secondary school as part of the Teach First program. In addition, Mr. Haberson has worked with the Kenyan Government to develop national policy agendas on youth employment and a national strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He has worked extensively with Mercy Corps AgriFin program, helping their partners to develop digital products and services that smallholder farmers need to increase their productivity, incomes, and resilience. He has also worked on several gender initiatives, including supporting a foundation to design a gender-lens investment fund.

Miléna Castellnou

Chief Programs Officer - The Education Outcomes Fund

Miléna Castellnou is Chief Programs Officer at the Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), a hosted trust fund at UNICEF, and co-lead EOF’s Program Team. Prior to joining EOF, she was an Associate Partner at Instiglio where she developed extensive experience in the design and implementation of Results-Based Financing (RBF) programs. Ms. Castellnou holds an undergraduate and Master’s degree from Science Po Grenoble and an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Nottingham.

Lucas Tschan

Head Advisory and Partnerships - iGravity

Lucas Tschan is the Head of Advisory and Partnerships at iGravity, working on the Impact-Linked Fund for Education (ILF). Mr. Tschan has over 10 years of experience in the financial sector and prior to joining iGravity, he assumed several positions at responsAbility Investments, covering Micro- and SME-finance and buy-side deals.
